Adam Lambert: The ultimate interview, Part One

Aug 21

Huge thanks to Kat for pointing me in the direction of this amazing Adam interview posted on August 4th on LATimes.com. It’s a 4 part interview with a lot of great quotes in it:

“American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert sat down with writer Fred Bronson for a wide-ranging interview. In Part One, Lambert talks about his early musical influences.

We know from watching “American Idol” that you were raised in San Diego, but where were your parents living when you were born?

I was born Jan. 29, 1982, in Indianapolis, Ind. I believe I was conceived on their honeymoon in Puerto Rico. I should have a little T-shirt that says, “Conceived in Puerto Rico.” They had me about nine months after their wedding.

My parents moved me out of Indianapolis when I was about a year old. My mom and dad said: “This isn’t the right fit for us. We want to go somewhere else.” So a job opportunity opened up for [my dad] in San Diego and we moved.

Adam Lambert Finally Confirms: “I’m Gay”

Jun 09

Adam Lambert finally confirms his sexuality in the new issue of Rolling Stone (on stands tomorrow).

“I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I’m gay,” the American Idol runner-up says.

“I’m proud of my sexuality,” continues the rocker, who was photographed holding hands with interior designer Drake LaBry earlier this month. “I embrace it. It’s just another part of me.”

But Lambert, 27, from San Diego — who performed Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” on the Idol finale — says he’s not the poster boy for gay rights.

“I’m trying to be a singer, not a civil rights leader,” he tells RS contributor Vanessa Grigoriadis.

Lambert admits that he was nervous about coming out while Idol was still on the air because contestants are under a media embargo, and he wanted to do it on his “own terms.” (He also says producers were open to him handling it however he wanted to.)

“I was worried that [coming out] would be so sensationalized that it would overshadow what I was there to do, which was sing,” Lambert tells the mag. “I’m an entertainer, and who I am and what I do in my personal life is a separate thing. It shouldn’t matter. Except it does. It’s really confusing.”

Lambert credits the FOX reality show with helping him gain self confidence.

“I finally checked into my self-worth for the first time in my life, and the fact that it coincided with Idol is so sweet,” he says. “I mean, I still have moments where I think, ‘Oh, my skin is terrible, and I’m a little fat — I should really go to the gym more.’ But for the most part, when I look in the mirror now, I finally see somebody who can do something cool.”

For more details on which Idol Lambert is attracted to, how he came out to his family, and what was going through his head when those photos of him in drag hit the web mid-season, pick up the newest issue of Rolling Stone, on stands Wednesday.

Adam Lambert, Kris Allen Fans React To ‘Idol’ Bottom-Three Surprise

May 01

I’ll cut right to the part about the Adam Lambert fans from this MTV.com article:

… Cherry’s reaction was nothing compared to the hysteria over on the forum at adam-lambert.net, where diehard TigerLily huffed, “OMG, I need someone to fan me. I cannot breathe!” moments after the news was revealed.

Among the hundreds who commented on the surprising news was Adam_Fan, who wrote simply, “I don’t want to watch either! If he goes home, I will curl into a ball and die!!” It was all for naught, of course, but the drama was befitting of a contestant who has inspired such a rabid following. Read more…

But anyways, that means we really have to vote, vote, VOTE next week! I also put up a new layout in the forum – I got sick of looking at the default :)

MSNBC.com: Adam Lambert is ‘Idol’s’ only star

Apr 14

Another article about Adam being awesome :)

There’s still a month and a half to go until “American Idol” crowns its champion, and anyone left in the competition could come out on top. But if it ended right now, there’s no question that Adam Lambert would be the most deserving winner.

All seven remaining finalists are capable in their own way, but Lambert is the only star. He has the right blend of talent, personality and stage presence to display the breakout ability that the rest of the field lacks (with the possible exception of the blander Danny Gokey). He’s in a groove and he knows it, and so far this season he’s done everything right. (more…)

Is ‘American Idol’ Front-Runner Adam Lambert The New David Cook?

Apr 08

Adam Lambert has been heralded as one of the most original contestants “American Idol” has ever seen. The 27-year-old Los Angeles-bred stage actor’s compositions have been praised as unique and provocative, and his unorthodox vocal interpretations of some rather beloved tunes have had the judges cooing gleefully, labeling him as the one to beat this season.

Remind you of anyone from last season’s “Idol”? Perhaps the guy who ended up taking home the whole kit and caboodle, David Cook?
